San Bernardino National Forest Association

Latest Developments:

Children's Forest has been very busy! Kids from the San Bernardino Mountains have helped plant 2,500 native trees and plants in the forest where fires burned recently. The fires have left a barren landscape, and the trees will create new habitat for animals, clean the air, protect the soil, and restore the forest to its natural condition.

Kids have also been very busy in the greenhouse. This year, Children's Forest has grown more than 2,000 plants in the greenhouse, so we have lots of material for the spring tree-planting season. We have also been learning more about our national forest, through fun outdoor classes in botany, learning how to map areas with GPS, discovering archaeological artifacts, and learning how to teach visitors about the forest. Lots of people from the community are helping -- in fact, we had more than 120 people come to National Public Lands Day to help plant trees!
